" Mixing electronic sounds with world-music influences and fieldrecordings (such as Muezzin chants in Istanbul, sounds caught during a Sufi Ceremony in the middle of the Turkish region of Kappadokia), “EPP1” is a fascinating and imaginative slow stream of electro-acoustic melodies and sonic landscapes. A melting-pot of sounds inspired by different cultures and their representative music, which reflects the mix of cultures in modern cities. “EPP1” is the result of a collaborative work between musicians with different backgrounds, poets, video-makers and random people met on the road. The album has been recorded in The Brandy Alexander Project’s home studio in Brixton (London) between 2007 and 2011." Brandy Alexander Project - september 2011
" Travels, encounters, mix of cultures and sounds, that's the story of this album, and also the kind of stories we like to tell ! EPP1 is the perfect illustration of a clever conversation between genres and eras." LCL - september 2011

::: ABOUT THIS RELEASE :::
" Manudub is a long time dub activist, animating a radio show in Marseille France, and also a long time connexion of LibreCommeLair. This collection of tracks from the Elephant Room Sessions is a perfect LP to chill out with during this 2011 sumer !" LCL - july 2011
" I would define this LP as a travel diary with a " Lo-fi higrade computer Dub 2.0 " soundtrack : homestudio dub inspired by jamaican & punk philosophy of DIY, blended with inspirations and energy stored during my excursions in Asia. This is also the result of years sharing with a lot of other "dub activists" from around the web, the track with Leah is a good example of this process. I call this different communities & networks "Dub 2.0"..." Manudub - july 2011
Thanks & big up : Dee Banse, Dub Rifles, Etmo, El Bib & all @ Dub Vibrations, Forward-I, Gary Asquith, Jah Billah, Jiang Liang, Lion of Joppa, LEah Rosier, LysergicSoundDub, Selector Jonathan, Sensistar, SubAtlas Dub Macka & all @ The Weedical Dubplex Space, Kamel Tazit, The Carlita Conspiracy, Tony "dubbhism" dubshot, Volfoniq & LibreCommeLair crew, and you !!!
::: ARTIST BIO :::
Manudub discovered DUB in the early 80’s through the punk energy from bands like The Clash, The Slits & such, which drove him to the Jamaican masters such as Prince Far I & King Tubby,Jah Shaka... Supporter of the DIY philosophy, he builds up his home studio and begins to produce some electronic dub tracks while working at " Wax records", the indie-electronic record-shop of Marseille. Probably the best place to deepen his musical culture... For the past 10 years, this French dub-activist has shared his vision of dub & bass culture through several radio shows on "Radio Grenouille", and played as a DJ in different venues and festivals, such as Szeiget, Air Libres and many others clubs... Manudub also worked with several artists of the dub planet, from China to Jamaica, England to Japan… His motto ? “No boundaries but DUB”.

::: ABOUT THIS RELEASE :::
" This EP celebrates the 5th anniversary of LCL. 5 years, 31 releases, and hundreds of thousands of downloads later, we keep the same aim : spread and connect ! The tale of LCL continues within the next chapters. Read hereafter what the instigators of this release have to narrate..." LCL - may 2011
" Working with Ebsa is like listening to his flow, it comes natural. There are no artifices, his style and his own identity merge together - the need of spreading a message that unifies rather than dividing. Producing the music for âFree as airâ has been equally intense and natural, where dub style had to support rap lyrics in a functional way and therefore maintain a certain level of symmetry, seeking to reveal the contrast between controlled sound power in slow motion and fast flickering, sharp lyrics. The choice by LCL to do a release for its fifth anniversary with Free as air is source of great pride ! Through the remixes it obtains the final form it should have : an intertwining track that is a sign of mutual friendship and respect between us." mildtape - may 2011
" When mildtape and I decided to make a song together and once he sent me the instrumental track, I wrote the lyrics for Free as Air within an hour. They came to me very easily and it felt natural. Influences for the lyrics include: the human world, people, my life, the project itself, soundcloud.com and the LCL label. The lyrics cover many universal themes: communication & internet, history & future, technology & nature, lyrics & music, sound system culture and the synergy that can be achieved when people âteam upâ. Mainly written in the English language, I also used Italian and French phrases in the lyrics. This was to emphasise the notion that - though we are all from different countries, have different cultures and use different languages - all humanity is connected through music." Ebsa - may 2011

::: ABOUT THIS RELEASE :::
"This is a very special release for us !
Summer 2009 : LibreCommeLair (LCL) opens a free creative commons sound bank filled by the artists who collaborated or released on the label. To spread the new, LCL decides to organize a remix contest based on the sound bank. Some musicians remixed one track, some mashed up two, others mixed up several and one even used all the samples in the same track (guess wich one) !
Early 2011 : after monthes of dilemna, a jury composed of Netaudio and Creative Commons music actors makes a selection of the contest entries. This Jury is composed by FreeMusicArchive (U.S.), Notheen (Hungary), Subflow (France), DivergenceFM (France), INQ (Spain), Netwaves (Belgium), Netaudio Berlin (Germany), AQuietBump (Italy), iD.EOLOGY (Germany) and Dogmazic (France).
Here is their selection, casted into the form of a dense and impetuous compilation of 10 sonic candies browsing a wide musical spectrum. Dub, reggae, d'n'b, hip hop, electronica, all for your aural pleasure !
To get all the artists bios and detail please visit this page : http://soundcloud.com/la-boite-a-sons You'll also find tracks from the other musicians to entered the contest !

::: ABOUT THIS RELEASE :::
" This sampler from Caballo's upcoming LP "Sonidero Evolucionario" (july 2011) is an opened window on a world that left conventions and boredom far behind. Could it be flamenco, ska, cumbia, dubstep or classical, no tags seems to be large enough to contain the energy that lies into his music. " LCL - february 2011
" About Caballo upcoming album "Sonidero Evolucionario" : It is an extension of the sound developed by Caballo mainly as a producer, not so focused on his MC skills as Sonidero Revolucionario but more in Caballo's unique vision of Global Bass. As politically intense as the BPMs, Caballo isn't afraid to use music as a tool for social change, professing a clear anti-war, anti-globalization message in his lyrics primarily in Spanish. Deep, rumbling rhythms interlaced with socially conscious lyrics and a globally-inspired aesthetic make this album a must-hear for Global bass heads all over the world. " Caballo - february 2011

::: ABOUT THIS RELEASE :::
"From over Alps comes this fully synthetic dub release, with minimalistic and hypnotic accents." LCL - january 2011
" At the beginning there were machines. But these were silent. We had to learn how to feed them. And when we learned it, we became the machines." mildtape - january 2011
::: BIO :::
The idea of mildtape comes from the melting of two different brains. One phantom powered and one phase inverted. A work of fine tuning and biasing gives track (at 15ips) to the musician, producer, engineer and beatmaker to be alternatively one or all. The flexibility of moving horizontally towards production stages allows the ability to disassemble and reassemble mildtape in new configurations: a scattered cluster or a single microchip.
::: CREDITS :::
+ All tracks composed and mixed by mildtape. + Additional drums on Slowsteppers Dub : Lenny Cremon. + Mastering : Threetones Studio. + Graphics : Mathias Geoffroy. Thanks to www.opamp.biz for technical equipment.
